You know you're addicted to pinterest when...
I dreamt about a Halloween Bark made using pretzels, peanuts, candy corn, and white chocolate. I haven't seen this exact version on pinterest, so I guess I was pretending to be a food network chef in my sleep. Well, the combination sounded too good to pass up so I decided to give the Halloween Bark a try... The result turned out better than I could've expected!
To make the bark:
1. Spread wax paper on a baking sheet
2. Layer pretzels on wax paper
3. Sprinkle peanuts and candy corn on top of pretzels
4. Melt a bag of white chocolate chips (I've found a double broiler works best)
5. Pour and spread chocolate over dry mix
6. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before breaking into pieces to serve
I gifted mine in recycled coffee tins that I covered in scrapbook paper. I think they turned out super cute!
Sweet. Simple. Southern.

Couponing
I must confess, I'm becoming a couponer... It is a challenge for me to see how little I can spend at the grocery store. Today I want to share my deals from Publix this week...
I bought:
3 boxes of graham crackers
6 bags of Knorr pasta
2 containers of Baileys creamer
For a grand total of:
$5.01!!!
This may be my best coupon trip yet!

Photography
Last summer I received an unexpected gift from my parents- a new Canon T-3 Rebel. I. LOVE. that. camera! It takes amazing photos! Shortly after that, my sweet boyfriend bought me a 55-250 zoom lens for my birthday.
I wanted to share an unedited photo taken with my Canon this summer on a cruise. I love the movement captured in the photo and how the background seems to frame the gull.

Artwork
Here's a pinterest inspired piece...
I used old, layered book pages as my base and painted around the outline of a tree, using the negative space to create my tree. I really like the way this turned out!

Hello and welcome to my sweet little southern space in the blog world! I am not new to blogging (you can check out my old blog here); my life got a little hectic and I needed a hiatus. I decided to create a new blog upon my return to better encompass my various interests.
That being said, let me do a brief introduction... :)
I am a late 20-something southerner from the peachy state of Georgia. I was raised in the military and didn't acquire the lovely southern accent until these last 10 years or so. I am an early childhood teacher with teaching experience in both lower and upper elementary; however this year I am making an exciting transition to working with teachers and helping them incorporate technology in their classrooms.
My interests are vast and varied. I enjoy creating jewelry, painting, crocheting, sewing, and scrapbooking. I love to cook and experiment with making traditional southern food healthy. Less than two years ago I began to focus on my health and embarked on a weight loss journey and quest to become fit. Since then, I have lost a total of 65 pounds. Healthy eating and exercise are a priority in my life and I continue to improve my health by setting and accomplishing goals that I once thought were impossible.
I hope you enjoy my stories and creations.
